Admin history: Peter Boode was born in Holland in 1887. After working for a rubber company for some years, in Singapore and the Dutch East Indies [Indonesia], he was transferred to Shanghai about 1920 where he spent the next five years. Here, he learnt to speak Chinese and began collecting antiques. After his return to Holland, in 1925, he started a Chinese antique business in The Hague.
