Admin history: M. Haarseth was a prospector of gold and copper in South and Central Africa who became, in 1909, a recruiter in Portuguese South Africa for the Witwatersrand Native Labour Association. During his time as a recruiter he was chiefly based in the Angonia district of what is now Mozambique.

Physical description: The pages of the volumes are of thin tissue and the ink in some of the earlier letters, especially, has faded and run making them very difficult to read.
