Admin history: Helen Maxwell Newham was born in 1896, daughter of Rev. W. G. Newham. After being educated at Godolphin School, Salisbury she trained as a teacher at Salisbury Training College and Shoreditch College. Helen Newham worked in South West Africa between 1929 and 1933. On her return to England she became headmistress at Bayham, Suffolk and then from 1948 in Campsea Ashe. She died on 6 Feb 1974.
