Bedil, the cannons manufactured in Brunei, are an important part of the country’s history, with records of their use going back over 600 years. This bronze model of a Bedil was gifted to SOAS by the Brunei Museums Department on the occasion of the exhibition The Islamic Sultanate of Brunei: Past and Present Culture at the Brunei Gallery, SOAS in 2008.
