Files of press cutting and some loose items relating to Sir Song Ong Siang, lawyer and prominent Singaporean kept by Rev William Murray, English Presbyterian missionary in Singapore in preparation for a biography of Song. Song was the first Chinese in Malaya [Malaysia] to be knighted. Loose items include a letter from Song to Murray dated Oct 28th 1930, and address given by Song to the Foreign Missions Committee of the Presbyterian Church of England, and several post cards. Also, cabinet-sized photograph of Song when a student at Cambridge and a later photograph of him taken in a Singapore studio. |
