description Two manuscripts (one a draft) bearing the same title in the same hand (author unknown). The draft is 10 pages long, has many amendments, corrections and crossing outs as well as only a few specific examples of syllabic Cree. The finished manuscript is 14 pages long and describes the development of the syllabic approach by the Rev James Evans to the Cree language and his use of the syllabic script (including when published), with extracts from Evans' journal about his work. The manuscript also explains vowel and consonant sounds (and their representative symbols), has a very brief vocabulary and examples of the script in writing and publications.
