Admin history: Rev Samuel Broadbent (1794-1867) served the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society as a missionary in Sri Lanka from 1815 to 1820 and in South Africa from 1820 to 1826. Dr Lewis Broadbent (1823-1891) was a doctor in Bamburgh, Northumberland, for 35 years.
