Summary: Possibly Phom. This is typical of an early anthropological image of a Naga, the only one in Mills' collection. He preferred to photograph people in their natural setting, and this may not be his work. The man is posed in front of a white cloth. His apron, belt and gauntlets are elaborately decorated with cowrie shells, indicating high status. He wears a brass chest ornament showing that he himself has taken a head, together with a boar's tusk necklet, decorated with pieces of shell and cornelian beads. His ear ornaments are of cut conch shell.
