Original handwritten summary written on reverse of letter reads, 'Letter from the Negroes at Demerary'. The letter bears the marks of Quamina, Satin, Bristel, Asaar and the signature of Moses Chisholm, who appears to have written the letter on their behalf. Offering thanks for the provision of a minister and the teaching of the catechism, the response of the plantation owners and managers, efforts to build an additional house of worship, loss of the singer at their church, and unease at the news of Mr. Wray's situation. Includes transcription.
