Summary: Visual material in various formats, created or collected by the London Missionary Society. Includes minatures, drawings, engravings and photographic portraits of missionaries appointed to the Society, photographic copies of oil paintings, art work and illustrations relating to the work of the Society both at home and in the mission fields overseas. There is also a collection of images and visual ephemera connected to David Livingstone identified as 'Livingstone Pictures'.
Extent: 33 boxes & approximately 107 pictures/oversize photographs
Custodial history: Art work and oversize photographs/portraits held in this sequence were transferred to SOAS Library from the headquarters of the Council for World Mission (Ipalo House) in January 2008. Some of this material originally formed part of the London Missionary Society's Missionary Museum. Where this is the case, items have been checked against historical inventories of objects and details indicated in the catalogue record.
