Dr Isaac Lloyd Johnstone M.C. M.B. M.R.C.S. L.R.C.P. was a medical missionary who served with the China Inland Mission and Overseas Missionary Fellowship.
Isaac Lloyd Johnstone (known as David Lloyd Johnstone) was born on the 25 November 1892 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. He studied as a teacher at the Faculty of Education, Toronto in 1911. Following graduation Johnstone trained at Stanley Barracks, qualifying as a Cadet Instructor. He taught at Grace Street Public School and commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Corps of School Cadet Instructor. On the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914 Johnstone volunteered and was enlisted in the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. In September 1915 after four months in England he sailed for France. He served in Northern France and in England until shortly before the Armistice
Following discharge from the armed forces Johnstone began medical studies at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School in London and qualified in October 1924 additionally with the joint MRCS and LRCP diploma.
Dr Johnstone served with the China Inland Mission in China from 1925 -1932. Following his return from China He practised medicine in Bristol with at the Overseas Missionary Fellowship hospital in Manoram in Thailand. Johnstone died on 19 March 1982 |
