Glass lantern slides depicting scenery and the life and work of Evan Evans Bryant as a missionary in northern China for the London Missionary Society. Also includes general slides on scripture, psalms and Christian imagery. The slides were presumably used by Evan Bryant to illustrate his work in China to audiences at home, but were probably used used in the mission field to accompany talks given as part of his mission work there.

Evan Evans Bryant was born on 16 February 1878 at Hankow, son of the LMS missionary, Rev E. Bryant. He was appointed to Peking with the London Missionary Society and following his ordination at Cricklewood Congregational Church, sailed to China 30 October 1906. In November 1910 he settled at Tsang Chow, Northern China; he worked as Acting Warden of Morrison Hall, Hong Kong, March 1916 to June 1918, and subsequently in Tsang Chow for country evangelisation. He died at Tientsin 24 Nov 1937. |

The slides were retained by the second wife of Evan Evans Bryant, Myfanwy Bryant (nee Rowlands), and later given to the donor's parents. |
